A small Franschhoek estate home needed a light lift and bright summer feeling.

Brief – Functional, friendly and homely.

What struct me when I entered the door, was a flowering lemon-yellow protea bush just off the patio. Behind it across the ‘Monet’ pond, fantastic views of mountains and greenery. So I decided to bring this colour into the scheme.

A mini renovation took place, to get the foundation of colour right: White new cupboard doors, soft grey walls and delicate wall paper in neutral leaf work was hung on the main wall in the lounge.

The client loved all the blues patterns: From Hertex’s Mama Africa range, we chose bright turquoise, patterned delft and Indigo blue, for scatter cushion. An easy combination to work in with yellow and a general base linen.

Art work ranged from hand drawn Carol Boyce spoons and a modern set painted by Anni Hennop. A landscape with all the yellows an blues was popped up on a back wall to tie the colours together.
