About Lindsay Patton

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1964, Lindsay showed a great love for art from an early age. After moving to Johannesburg, South Africa she started up a career in the interior decorating industry with her business Bella Casa. It was during this time that she rediscovered per passion for painting – after buying a small set of primary oils, a canvas, and setting up a workshop in the garden shed.

In 1998 after the death of their father, Lindsay and her sister decided to follow our dreams: to live, paint and explore ‘La Dolce Vita’ in La Cote d’Azur, the south of France. Armed with a Harley Davidson, canvas and paintbrushes, they set out to explore the great countryside.

Upon returning to South Africa, Lindsay’s passion for painting started to turn into a profession. A move to Mexico in 2002 and later to New York, allowed her to focus purely on painting and drawing.

An impressionistic style dominates her artwork. Using mostly life-sized canvases, she enjoys bold, splashing brush strokes for landscapes and florals. Nude paintings are approached with gentle, subtle colours. Textured oils, muted acrylic and charcoal are her signature styles – inviting the viewer to discover invigorating colour combinations.

The opportunity to visualize where her works will hang allows her to create art that compliments and captures a certain essence. This timeless connection and link to people who appreciate her paintings, means the world to her.

Lindsay now paints professionally from her studio and home in the Franschhoek Valley, as well as continues her love for interior decorating and project management. The country lifestyle lends itself to her painting, her love for photography and her passion for beautiful things.
