MY PHOTOGRAPIC JOURNEYS

Growing up being exposed to her father’s passion of photography formed a solid foundation to which Lindsay would often refer. Being the mini cameraman’s assist gave her a sneak preview into the wonderful world of photography. Armed with a Hasselblad camera and much enthusiasm, the world awaited. Lindsay would spend many of her teenage years behind the lens of a camera or dabbling around in the darkroom. This natural exposure to the basic technical principals were valuable lessons.

Now, based in Franschhoek she uses her camera to capture special moments that exist in nature.  Her interest lies in perspective and her desire to catch details of jagged textures, flowing forms and vivid colours that are accentuated by radiant light.

Lindsay likes to photograph during the “Magic Hours” of the late afternoons and early mornings. While the sunlight filters through giant gum trees, across misted expanses of openness. She waits to capture a certain flash of brilliant yellow, reflections in a small pond, a stroke of an acid lime green in a distant field or a terracotta sky.

It’s landscape through a lens and life under a magnifying glass. Lindsay is inspired by the drama in nature, which is right on her doorstep.
