This 2023 Franschhoek project holds a special place in my heart.

Set amidst a private wine and pear orchard in the heart of Franschhoek, l’Harmonie stands as a testament to thoughtful design and craftsmanship. With well-presented and precise architectural plans, I eagerly embraced the creative process.

The design brief spoke to me as “Solid as stone, light as a feather.”

Hints of a life in Northern Africa and a heritage rooted in the hills of Ireland are delicately interwoven throughout this gracious home.

Walls of natural stone form the backbone of this solid yet free-flowing L-shaped house.

The stone, unearthed from excavated pear orchards, was carefully repurposed into two striking feature walls. A light-filled passageway, serving as a central art gallery, connects the private wing to the grand entertainment spaces.

The living area flows seamlessly into the kitchen, complete with a wood-burning fireplace. Nearby, a cozy breakfast table sits in a modern glass atrium, seemingly floating toward a layered vegetable garden.

This home exudes warmth and a welcoming charm while maintaining a tasteful, minimal aesthetic. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this exceptional project.
