The brief: “Modern clean lines with a monochromatic base.”

This new home in the much sought-after Acres of Pearl Valley Golf Estate, Paarl, serves as a showcase for a few exotic collections while creating an inviting space for entertaining in style.

I was impressed by the planning of the spacious living area, the integration of the central kitchen, and the relationship to the grand dining room table and lounge—each area making a statement of its own. This home is designed to bring and keep friends together in its well-appointed core space.

The ultra-high ceilings with floating recessed rim lighting create a calm and clean base from which the monochromatic palette flows. A neutral palette threads through the home, complemented by elegant fine linen curtains hanging from ceiling to floor in every room. The sleeping areas are individually designed with layered linings and specific privacy blinds to create luxurious, peaceful bedrooms.

Placing furniture, paintings, and sentimental pieces in demarcated spaces early in the project left room for displaying select objets d’art. An extensive and rare whisky collection serves as a division between the lounge and dining room—a definite conversation starter.

Target lighting illuminates finely handcrafted car engines, which have been transformed into impressive coffee-making machines. The garage area is a dream “man cave,” home to collector bikes, including Harleys and Ducatis, alongside other memorabilia.

This is a home that exudes tasteful living, where less truly is more, and where friends are made to feel like the most important assets on the balance sheet of this home.
